i found this cute plant with little, red flowers growing around the base of one of the rose of sharons, but i don’t know what it is. do you?

it’s been one long thunderstorm since saturday. the dogs don’t like thunder. it’s scary and when they’re scared they think climbing inside my clothes is going to save them. so, that’s about 96 hours of dogs attached to me. like velcro.

i am grateful for sunny days warm enough for shorts. i didn’t wear them, though, cuz without the long pants i was feeling a little naked. i guess i’m not ready yet. also, i’m grateful i got to turn the furnace off for a couple days. woohoo!

lately, i’ve been sitting on my front steps and knitting and watching the people in my neighborhood go about the business of being my neighbors. it’s nice.

i was planning to spend some time going through my books today. it’s time to weed some of them out. you know, so i can make room for new ones. only…i don’t want to go through them. i’m too lazy for spring cleaning this year. how about i do a summer cleaning instead? i should [...]

as soon as the magnolia blooms, a big wind storm always comes along and blows all the flowers away. if i blink i miss ‘em. i blink every year.

of all the baby plants, i think ferns are my favorite.

i am grateful to cross some things off my to do list that have been on the list for waaaaayyy to long. i am grateful that the other day was sunny and rain free. i’m grateful that it’s supposed to be in the 70′s and sunny by thursday. i am grateful one of my daffodils [...]

cute did nothing to change the weather. fine. at least my plants are getting lots of water, right?
